A passion for knitting

Tanya Singer is equal parts knitter, writer, and media marketer. She started knitting in college and developed a daily knitting habit when her son underwent (successful) brain surgery in 2017. Her passion for the craft led her to research the ways knitters used their skills as a means of resistance and renewal during and after WWII, inspiring her work as a Contributor to Tablet Magazine, Vogue Knitting Magazine, Modern Daily Knitting, Kveller and The Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

She works at Tablet Magazine, where she co-hosts the Beautifully Jewish podcast series. She holds a BA with honors from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass., where her “Little Sister” was the first person to teach her to knit. Since then she's taught young knitters and inspires adult knitters how to teach children to knit.
